First Shots is a program designed by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) specifically for new shooters. During this three-hour seminar you will learn the basics of firearm safety, local requirements for owning and purchasing a firearm, plus a variety of shooting sport opportunities for all levels of interest. Students will spend an hour on the range developing basic and safe marksmanship skills while firing a .22 caliber handgun.
Topics will include:
- General firearm safety, handling, and ownership
- Pistol/revolver nomenclature
- Safe loading and unloading practices
- Proper storage
- Fundamentals of shooting including grip, stance, sighting, and accuracy
