This six-hour course is designed to give new shooters the confidence and knowledge to safely handle, operate, and maintain a handgun. Students will learn essential skills through guided instruction and hands-on practice, gaining a solid foundation for future training and responsible ownership.

Topics covered include:

  • Handgun selection & vocabulary
  • Loading & unloading
  • Fundamentals of accurate shooting
  • Maintenance & storage

Course Details:

  • Time: 11:30AM – 5:30PM

  • Equipment: Rental firearm & ammunition included (students must use provided equipment)
  • Prerequisites: None (W1 achieved upon completion)
  • What to Bring:
    • Closed-toe shoes, weather-appropriate clothing
    • Non-shattering prescription glasses (if applicable)
    • Lunch/snack, and a water bottle

    Great class, learned lots and had fun too…Stevie is very knowledgeable and made everyone feel comfortable. Very hands on. I was quite nervous when we started the shooting but she was very patient and explained things very well .     STEVIE IS AN INCREDIBLE INSTRUCTOR! I was quite nervous going into the class due to having no experience with guns. Her thorough instruction with gun safety and reviewing procedures multiple times really helped. Stevie also has a very calm, confident demeanor and you immediately trust her. I appreciated being brought into the waiting area of the range. We saw others firing, heard the loud sounds (to get a sense of our environment), and then was brought into our actual area where we would shoot. There were no surprises and everything was done with care and safety always a priority. I was nervous, but excited and came away feeling so much better about handling a gun. The majority of women in our class did not have experience with guns, however, you wouldn’t have known that given Stevie’s ability to make us all feel confident with what we were doing. Highly recommend this class.

I told myself when I bought the gun I was going to take this class but fear of even handling an unloaded firearm made me extremely nervous. I decided to finally step out of my comfort zone and take the class. I can’t say enough about Stevie. She is an amazing instructor full of knowledge and passion for what she teaches.     Stevie was absolutely amazing! I was nervous going in but by the end I felt very comfortable! My friend took the class also and after she rented us a lane so I could shoot some more and rented a firearm that was different so I could try something new. 10/10 would recommend for anyone!

    This class was great! I highly recommend it for women with a gun in the house, thinking of purchasing one, or those interested in learning more about proper gun safety. My friends and I loved our instructor, Heather, who made it so much fun. We didn’t move on til everyone got it, which we did because she was so clear. No one should pick up a gun without knowing all the safety precautions. We were so impressed and plan to go back. She has the perfect personality to do this! Ever staff member we met was so friendly and professional. What a great company! God bless our Vets and our police.

    I couldn’t suggest this class MORE. Heather is a phenomenal instructor and truly breaks everything down for the beginner. There’s no intimidation, everyone is there to learn, and Heather makes sure that you walk away feeling much more confident. If you’re a woman and want to learn some of the basics to handguns and get to practice shooting on the range, take this class! It’s worth every penny.

The group we had was awesome, the instructors (Heather and Meggan) are incredibly knowledgeable and patient, and it was set up to go at whatever speed we all needed in order to feel comfortable. It was the perfect blend of in-class instruction and hands-on learning, and we actually got to shoot more than I thought we would… I truly can’t say enough good things about it, and I can’t wait to take the second level in October!

    Amazing class! Had an intro class about a year ago at another range and was talked into buying a gun as well as given the hard sell on their membership. Still didn’t feel comfortable with my gun so still haven’t shot with it. Went to this class and not only do I not feel scared of my gun, I learned so much more ! It was presented in a way that made sense to me! I feel like this just might be a new hobby/sport and can’t wait for the next class and to book range time! ALSO- there was no selling/advertising of WBA- they talked about opportunities and who the people were to ask questions- but no hard sell of anything. Thank you! I paid to learn about my gun and be comfortable with it-I got that and so much more! Happy to be a part of the WBA family now!!! Thank you Heather and Meg!!!!
